Nope, they'll interchange just fine, as long as they're both match in terms of being for power or manual steering. No other modifications necessary.

You will have to do some slight alterations to your neutral safety switch wiring, of course....forgot about that. But if you're going with an aftermarket floor shifter, it should come with it's own that you'll simply hook up to the existing NSS wiring.

hmm, what if the truck has power steering and the column is from a non p/s? what would need to be done then?

yeah, it will be a b&m floor shifter. was also reading in another post that the p/s and non p/s columns are different lenghts. since the manual is longer than an automatic and i'm using the manual i should'nt have to shorten it, should i?

if the columns are the same length you can do it. a non power column will only work if the truck has a bendix power steering box.

If your manual column is from a manual steering truck, then the shaft will be too long. You could shorten it, but....

The manual shift column has a very short outer tube, assuming you are talking about a column from a floot shift (4 speed) and not a 3 on the tree. You can re-use the short shaft from the PS Automatic column in the manual column tube and make it work. Check the articles, there are pics that illustrate what I am taking about.

bendix power steering columns (the long columns) are 3/4 inch difference than the manual steering columns.
