re: Duraspark Conversion - Guidance

Post by FORDification »

I've included some basic info on Duraspark setups at the following link:

http://www.fordification.com/duraspark01.htm

The ignition module with three pigtails is the kind which features a "cranking retard" mode (which is ideal for cars equipped with hot camshafts that require a lot of ignition advance at idle), but I think I'd suggest just using the blue-grommet two-plug module.

I'm really not sure what the differences are in the parts you've listed though. :(

Keith,

Thanks for the quick reply and the information link. I've gone over it pretty good and have a better understanding of the complete system. I think I might be missing a cable adaptor or harness from distributor to coil to module. Does that seem right?

If I get the module, coil, cap w/converter & rotor from the same year ie '78 for the Dura-II and the dissy for a '75 F250 390 will i have all i need?

Thanks again and I really appreciate your efforts here with this site. I did find you from another Ford Truck site and have since reduced my visits to that site dramatically. The information is real hard to find and the answers are sometimes very slow in coming.

PS: I loved your censorship response. In my opinion you represent reality.
Cheers,

Doug

I think the price diffrence is in new and remanufactured (rebuilt) diffrences. I was on there napa online parts catalog also and noticed the exact same thing.

Thanks for posting your research here. This is an item on my checklist for the future. If you do go ahead with it, please post your experience and any clarifications to your list, if you have the time.
