M/C losing fluid in front res.?

Post by prime mover »

the small section of my master looks like its leaking out the top and pouring down the sides, what is causing this? I replaced it a couple months ago and did the front brakes, I didnt check the rears yet but I dont see any leaks at the rear backing plates.

Is the fluid level rising in the smaller reservoir? I had a problem like that when the mc was going out. It would push fluid from the larger reservoir to the smaller one and eventually overflow it.

Even when the mc was new, the cap would leak if you didn't have it on in just the right position. The rim of the mc made a dent on the cap gasket and you had to line up the rim with the dent. And the rim had to be absolutely clean of any surface corrosion. The wire holddown can also bend out and exert less pressure.

check and make sure that the cover is not bent. Just take it off and lay it on something flat. Also, you may have a tear in the rubber, check that out too.

Make sure that there is no corrosion opn the seal itself. This will cause this problem also.
If at first you don't succeed. Get another beer.
