First, you need to realize that there are many of us die-hard Ford lovers on this site. You could outright give me a brand new chebby today and tomorrow it would be on another car lot!
I have absolutely no sympathy at all for anyone that wants to butcher our Ford trucks with chebby parts!
With that said...
The Ford IFS has, and will always continue to to be the best d@mn truck and car suspension made.
chebby can't even come close with their pogo-stick suspensions.

Here's some Ford help...
Start here:

And then maybe try this:

Ford truck suspension is my favorite as well and, in my mind, far tougher than any other light truck suspension.

However, as far as cars go...give me a Mopar torsion-bar suspension any day.

I'd say that just swapping out the rubber bushings for polyurethane would be a great start. Do the rear suspension bushings too if you have the time and money. That should end any suspension-play related handling problems and tighten it up.

I have front and rear Addco's on my F100 and the thing handles as good as any new truck sitting on any dealer lot. Granted, some of that prowess may come from the suspension drop and resulting lower center of gravity. But sway bars help stability no matter what the ride height. I added the front bar and noticed the difference right off. Then I added the rear bar and was amazed how much of a difference it made too. Just my :2cents:

Don't forget to check out your steering draglink and steering box for extra play. That can maybe add to your handling issues too.

I have done this swap on several pick ups. I really like it. I am planning to clip my 78 F-350 crew cab soon. I think they drive better than twin I beams, but that is only my opinion. If you need more info-call me at 1-325-468-4211 or 1-325-HOT-FORD-ask for Bob

WOW!
I let this guy in on this place over at FTE and you D***heads want to treat him like that! You are starting to act like you belong on FTE!
This place IS NOT FTE! you feel it necessary to flame people for their vision of what THEY want for their ride, then dont make a comment.
I myself feel that the CHEVY front suspension does ride rougher, but there are WAY more options for it. And if the Twin-I beams were SOOO good, then why is FORD using A-arms now? Or did it take that long for it to sink in that the twin I-beams werent right?
Yes they ride better, but I have NEVER seen a Chevy A-arm fail under a LOAD. what about mustang II? Thats A-arm.....

Grunt real hard and maybe your heads will pop out. Quit acting like some of those at FTE. I hate it when people get flamed!!!

Wes, I believe he's referring to the '97 to present day trucks.

Long story short, it is his truck and he can do with it what he pleases. I personally believe that a properly freshened and upgraded twin I-beam with swaybars can hang with any of the competitions' suspensions. But that's my :2cents: Let's all try to be helpful, respectful, and part of the solution, not part of the problem. Let's leave the quibbling to the lesser liked forums on the 'net please.

May be on an 97+ f150, cause I don't work on those. I don't recall seeing arms on f250SD's and up when I rack them. All twin I beams and mono beams.
The mustang II type front ends, are being built to accommodate many more different types of vehicles.
On topic Chevy ifs note the G type vans the cross member and lower control arm unbolt as an assembly, the upper bolts to the frame.

I thought I had posted in this thread earier but I dont see it now, woops.

I put a 2007 crown vic front suspension in my 67 f100 short bed and absolutely love it. I cant beleive the ride, its alot like a 2007 crown vic :D I had tons of people tell me not to put that suspension in my truck and that the i beams were the greatest thing since sliced bread, while the ibeams may be a tuff suspension I am not impressed with them (just my opinion ibeam lovers, sorry :)) I am however highly impressed with the way the new suspension handles and drives. I have nothing but good to say about the modern ride and handling thanks to the 12" disc brakes, rack and pinion steering, and large sway bars plus it was almost a bolt in affair and all for the small fee of $350 for the complete unit with less than 15,000 miles on it. I love it and it seems to be supporting my 785 pound little diesel engine just fine.

With that said, I dont think I would feel comfortable trying to really abuse this as a truck like hauling lage loads every day ( the ocassional boat or trailer load every once in a while, ok) or going off roading but I have a 3/4 ton truck for that so I built this as a daily driver and I am more than confident that it will do great for cruising up and down the highway or around town. I say go with what you like.
67 F100 sc/sb 07 Crown Vic IFS, 94 Lincoln Mark 8 IRS, isuzu 3.9L diesel w/ HY35 & HX 52 compound turbos and 370cc custom injection pump,T56 6spd trans, 18" 07 dodge magnumm wheels, old air products A/C (for a 66 mustang LOL). 32 mpg's so far, around town

I've got the '79 f-350 sway bar on my '71 f100. It helped some, the front end is tight. It still wants to dart around when you make a wide curve on the highway, I think it's an alignment issue. Maybe the caster is off some.
Mine drove much better before the disc brake conversion. The kingpins were tight on the doner truck, so I swapped the I beams and all. I think a trip to the gray haired front end man will fix it.
