My bleader thing is striped

Post by itsmy72f100 »

I can't get it off any suggestions much appreciated. It is on the 71 I bought yesterday no power brakes. I think that since the master cyclendar is still full after driveing for 3 miles that the brakes just need to be bled but can't do it with the bleeder nut stripped.

Well, it just means it's time to get a pair of Vise-grips on the bleeder and twist it out....which of course means you'll have to replace it.

Well then, considering that the brake cylinder the bleeder valve threads into is only about $10-$12, I'd suggest just replacing it.

That sounds like a plan. On another note I am sorry to hear your losing the shop I hope you find a beauty of a home with 10 acres and a 5 car shop for a steal.

Yup, replace it, its easy. Have you tried some penetrating lube yet? I just went thru this a few months ago. One came loose, one came off with the cylinder and was replaced.

You could break or cut the head of the bleeder screw off and use an ez-out to get it out...
Or just do like Keith said and replace the cylinder itself...
