There's actually very few conversion parts you can buy online...most of the pieces you'll need will have to come from a donor truck.

Have you read the power steering tutorial? It'll outline everything you'll need.

Someone might be able to supply you with the parts you need, but if you could edit your profile to include your location, it might help.
Also, is this for 2WD or 4WD? The systems are quite different.

Not to hijack this thread, but a question I came over here to get answered is right down this road.

Specifically, I have all my parts (everything stated in this thread is correct -- you need to get out there and find them from a donor).

But the rubber seal down at the firewall was shot/gone on three donor trucks I found. It seems that only the manual steering rubber seal is available -- LMC, DC, all only seem to list the seal for manual steering.

Anyone know -- is the manual steering seal close enough to be useful? I actually have one -- -it looks like it will be OK. But would like ot ask, before I get my truck all pulled apart and find out otherwise.

i wouldnt think there would be a difference in the firewall seal from manual to power steering . its just a rubber boot. the bolt holes are all the same.

But the seal itself IS different, mainly due to the different angle it takes through the firewall. Here's a couple comparison shots for the visual:

As you can see, not only is the seal different, but the seal retainer is also different. I'm not saying you couldn't make it work...'cause someone really determined can make anything work if he really wants it. But I think you'd be happier finding the correct pieces....a lot less work involved.

I have the correct metal parts. Just the rubber does not seem to be available. Unless someone here knows?

Kieth -- great pics. It would seem to me that the rubber is not that much different. If anything, the PS rubber is a little smaller than the MS rubber, such that one might just be able to trim it and it would be fine.

The pics give me hope. Thanks!!!!

Just an update to this thread....I was at the shop today and ran across the parts pictured above. Here's a view of the manual-steering seal in the power steering retainer. You can see there's it's not quite a good match along the top. I suppose you could always goop it up with something, but still....

Agreed. Correct rubber seal would be better. But I have not been able to locate one.

Does anyone know if they are made aftermarket?
