Good looking truck flatbed  My F-350 sags even worse than the your before picture  I too need new springs on the front. I'll start hitting the local wrecking yards later on this fall.

Hi Ima71,

Does this interchange manual listing definitively indicate that springs from these vehicles are compatible with one another? It's exciting to see something that explicitly lists my exact truck (1972 F250 8,100lb GVW).

Thank you!

Hi Steve! It looks like the photos you posted a while back of before and after your spring installation have been moved. If you happen to have these around on your computer still, would it be possible for you to re-post them? I'm really curious to check this out.

Thanks very much Steve!

That's funny. I have no idea where they went, or even where they were. I've got 2 computers and an external drive to check. The pictures don't show anything helpful for the install. I'll do some digging some time.

Hi Folks,

I'm still having trouble getting new springs working on my 8,100lb GVW F250, so I'm reviewing all the options. I'm convinced at this point that the F350 springs are identical to whatever is supposed to be on my F250, so I didn't really need to start my own forum thread (but I didn't know this at the time).
cooltoolguy wrote:Flatbed, the springs worked, they are in the truck. It was a tight fit on the bottom perches, (I believe they may really have been for the 73-79 trucks). I just installed the tops, then cranked the bottom nut, let it sit and cranked again, it did seat all the way.
FLATBEDFORD wrote:i did mine this week. The cc828 springs fit Ok. As cooltoolguys said, they are a little funny at the bottom, but with a pipe on my wrench I was able to push them all the way down.
CoolToolGuy and Steve,

From these posts it sounds like the bottom, final coil of the cc828 springs is smaller than the lower mount (the bell shaped piece).

The issue I'm facing now is that with my Moog 8646 springs, the bottom, final coil is larger, so the plate that squeezes down on the top of the bottom coil isn't really wide enough to cover it, and it keeps slipping out.

Given the choice between having the bottom coil larger and having it smaller, smaller definitely sounds better, as long as it's certainly possible to force it over the "bell shaped" lower mount piece.

CoolToolGuy, Steve, could you answer my questions if you get a chance? THANKS!

1. Now that some time has passed, how have the cc828 coils worked out?

2. Have the cc828 coils settled evenly on the right and left sides (no slope to one side)?

3. Is it true that the bottom coil on the cc828 is a little smaller than the bell shaped lower mount?

4. If it's indeed smaller, is it true that it expanded enough to fit snugly around the bell shaped mount?

Thanks very much!!! Hopefully I'll be able to solve my coil mystery soon.

I cranked mine down and they seem to have settled in nicely. Replacing the front springs did not level my truck. One of my rear springs is a lot softer than the other, so, until I have the rear springs re-arched, I won't know if the cc829s make the truck sit level or not. I just haven't felt like spending the $400 or so to have the rear springs re-arched, a leaf added in each and all the bushings replaced. The guy at the spring shop thinks that once this is done, the truck should level out.

Hi Steve, thanks for your reply!

Were the bottom coils too small to fit easily over the "bell shaped" mount, or were they just shaped oddly?

Thanks!
