re: F350 coil springs

Basketcase,
colltoolguy says the moog cc828 springs worked for him. In another thread he tells about hauling a couple tons of cinder blocks with good results. I haven't done mine yet. I'm still dealing with more important problems AND trying not to spend too much money on my 2nd truck. I'm happy there's another F350 here. As far as I know there are only about six F350 duallies here and one is actually a SRW 4X4 with a dually rear added. Welcome!

Flatbed,

I'm the 3rd owner of the truck, (just like yours with no rear shocks/or even evidence of mounts anywhere). Got new tires/shocks for the front. Gotta get the new coils and also radius arm bushings before I put the tires on.

The radius arm bushings seem to be a "hard-to-find" part too.

71' F-350 flatbed dually 360 V-8 4 speed.

My front end seems pretty tight. I haven't tried to find any other front end parts. How many miles on your F350? Mine's just over 75K.

Flatbed,

Got 90,000 original miles. I've powdercoated 2 front rims with new tires and don't want to chance wear on them, (so I'll rebuild the front end during the FE to small block engine swap).

i did mine this week. The cc828 springs fit Ok. As cooltoolguys said, they are a little funny at the bottom, but with a pipe on my wrench I was able to push them all the way down. The front of my truck rose about 2" and it doesn't list to port any more. It nice to see the whole tire and not have it hiding under the fenders any more.
Here's before.
Image
And after.
Image
It was pretty easy once I found a 1 5/16" socket for the bottom nut. The truck rides great now. Next, a front end alignment.

Any Napa with a heavy truck department should be able to get 1 ton springs. its light for them but most of their books will have it.

I never found anybody with a book that had springs for a '67-72 F350. A couple of us were looking. I called spring shops all over the US. Let us know what you find at NAPA.

Things can be Re-tempered, it is the cooling rate and the max heat that give you the results. ith a good oven (not the [censored] stove) you can re-temper things.

Nice job Steve. Your truck is really looking good, and probably driving real nice now. You inspire me to really start getting into my F350. Maybe I will sell the F100 to fund the F350. I'm really falling for the F350's lately.
