Is it safe? washer with late steering parts, early spindles

Is it safe to use a thick washer under the nut holding the tie rods to the spindles when using late tie tods/drag link with early spindles, in order to locate the castle nut at the right height to use a cotter pin. The tie rods look like the same size/taper, just a little longer.

The nut sits at the right place on my 350. I have a later 100-250 one on my 69 and it fits fine.

you can get a taller castle nut at a parts store. It should be a buck a piece.

You don't need it the nut that came with the longer spindle end and the old nut are the same. I used the new end and the new nust with no problems on the 69

Kid's right, even though the later tierod/draglink ends are definatly longer everything snugged up fine.
