Hood?

On my hood the sheet metal is not connected to the inner support. I was wondering if it was suppossed to be or not?

Mine is the same. I got goofy headed a while back and decided to climb up on the hood. It didn't budge. That support webbing under the sheet metal is tough - it just looks flimsy when you're driving and it's doing the shimmy.

I thought the sheetmetal was supposed to be glued to the support frame with some adhesive. Mine is also disconnected, I think from when the hood went flying up on the interstate onramp.

I also thought it was supposed to be glued down but hey if it anit gonna hurt nothin im gonna leave it alone.

My hood does have some goop? glue? in a couple spots where it has oozed out from between the inner support brace and the hood skin.

yeah i think they orignally had some sort of goop to hold them together but i don't know that it can be fixed. you could try urethane for windshields. that stuff does work good on glass to metal so it should work great metal to metal.

I was thinking of jb weld to put them back together. Any thoughts on that?

jbwled might work. but what i think is that jb weld is a soild type of adhesive. it doesn't have any flex to it. the hood skin does flex when not attached to the bracing. so you know that it will want to flex when attached to the bracing.

Good point. I just want to get my hood so that when you set your had on it it doesnt 'pop' down. IF you know what i mean.

yea i know what your saying. you just want something to hold it in place so it doesn't seem so flimsy

Some sort of caulk, like you'd use around the house? A lot of that stuff remains flexible, but would hold the metal in place.

Seam sealer. Just enough flex to prevent warping.
