Roof-Mounted Clearance Lights
My restoration is in it's final stages, and I'm giving some thought to these before installing the headliner. Anyone have any opinions, either as to the look when installed, or the installation (mainly the placement of five lights)?
As soon as I get the windshield and back glass installed, I'll try to learn how to post pictures. I do have a digital camera and have sent pictures via email, so I should be able to post them here,,,,eh?

technically, if you are hauling/towing something over 80", you must have 3 center mount lights visible front and rear.
I like the look personally, but then I drive a big rig for a living.
I can get a pic of the placement of mine if you want. the lights themselves are no good, but it will give you an idea where they go from the factory.

I don't much liike them myself, my '72 has 5 of them and I am thinking about removing and filling the holes. I should say I like the look of them at night with them on but not in the daytime when you can really see the truck ![Laughing lol](./images/smilies/icon_laughing01.gif)

Some dots(depart. Of Transportation) Require the three center ones to be right next to each other and then the other two on the far outside. Othres don't care and others still require tehy be 12-24" appart.
I put my first one on dead center all the way out tell the cabs beveled edge just about the chrome.
and then spread them out on that line with IIRC 24" appart. I nstalled it center, both outer corners then the two inners.

re: Roof-Mounted Clearance Lights
Thanks for the responses. Yeah, 72Hiboy, I would like to see them. If you can post a pic of them like at dusk, with them on, that would be great, but any pic will do.
The thing that appeals to me is related to the look of the amber parking lights shining next to my new paint. I'm thinking the clearance lights would kinda have that same effect.

I'm not sure all of them even work anymore, but I'll get a pic of whats left tonight. and I'll get a pic of my '88's running lights also, for comparison.

re: Roof-Mounted Clearance Lights
Here is where mine came from the factory. I'm not at home so I can't take any measurements right now. If you need them let me know and I'll get out there with a tape measure and jot down some numbers for you. Hope this helps.

re: Roof-Mounted Clearance Lights
That's a big help, Long Bed. If you have a chance to get measurements, I will appreciate it. I think consistent spacing close to this will probably work just fine, if I do install them. It's also good information about an F100 with factory clearance lights.

Interesting, I wonder if they changed the spacing in '72 or if mine aren't stock. Mine are spaced equally between all 5.

Re: re: Roof-Mounted Clearance Lights
Sorry, I didn't have the time I thought I would have last night. I measured them up this morning. The 3 middle ones are 9 inches, on center, apart. The outer ones are 23 1/2 inches from center or 14 1/2 inches from the one next to it. They are also set back 7 1/4 inches from the drip rail to the FRONT of the light. Hope this is enough info. Let me know if you need more.71 LONG BED wrote:I'll measure 'em up tonite when I get home, ejgator and post the dimensions for you.

re: Roof-Mounted Clearance Lights
Thanks for the extra effort, Long Bed. That's exactly what I need. I will assume, unless you tell me otherwise, that they are set in a straight line from side to side, not in a curve.
