Windshield with crome trim around it.. Need some suggests

Post by Tallboy »

Hey all,
So I am trying to put a new front window seal and chrome trim on the windshield. 1st All parts are correct for this install. 2nd it seems that if I try to put the trim into the weatherstrip groove it wont stay together long enough to get onto the window, and if I put the weatherstrip on the window and try to put the trim on..... the weatherstrip comes off the window. :x :x :x

Any sequencing help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Tim

Tallboy, one thing is a certainty: you must put the trim in the seal before installation of the seal/glass. I took my trim out a couple of years ago but left the windshield in. I learned that the glass must come out in order to reinstall the trim. As far as actually doing it, maybe someone else can help. Good luck.

Someone mentioned taping it in place, installing the assembly and then removing the tape.

Tim,I only did this with the back glass--not a windshield, but if you put the trim into the gasket like JOR says, then put like a clothesline rope all the way around into the groove in the windshield gasket, have somebody hold the windshield in place while you pull the rope toward you from the inside of the cab,it may or may not work....
This is the point...I'm....talking about everybody! I'm talking about form! I'm talking about content! I'm talking about interrelationships! I'm talking about God, the devil, hell, heaven!!!! Do you understand???? Finally!!!!

Install the chrome and put a rope around it. When you get ready to install it have someone push lightly and start working the rubber and pulling the rope to get teh rubber going. May need somethinglike a screwdriver (not recommended) but something to help work the rubber in. A lubricant aslo needs to be applied to help with this proccess.
