Door weatherstrip

I need to replace the door seals on both sides. NPD sells one that says "good repro, nice details" for 32 bucks and some change. Rock auto has a set made by "Fairchild" for 26 bucks, and LMC has a set for around 50. Dennis carpenter is 60 bucks. Anyone have any experience with any of these? I'm liking the NPD price, and I generally have good experiences with them, but I don't want to be playing with the weatherstrip all the time trying to keep it in place either.

I bought mine from NPD and they are good. Just get yourself some black weatherstrip adheasive and apply it a foot at a time while holding it for about a minute to set. Then do the next foot and repeat. Once you have the whole door weatherstrip set, then shut the door and let it dry the rest of the way. Each door takes about 15 minutes to apply and then just leave the doors shut for a few hours after. Simple stuff.

But the NPD stuff is good.

Purchased mine from Autocrafters and i have to slam the door to get it to shut tight. Does this happen to all aftermarket seals?

You can fix the need to slam the door by adjusting your door striker. Just loosen it a little and move it a little outward and tighten it back down. Keep adjusting until you are happy with how the door shuts while maintaining a good seal. This is the reason the door strikers are completely adjustable.

I tried the striker deal. I can get it to shut easier but the door sticks out past the jam a little more than i like. I'm hoping by keeping the door shut it will help seat the seal. I'll found out how that goes.

Yeah, eventually the rubber will conform and settle where it wont push on the door as much. At least you know you have a good seal.
