My $300 67 F100 Ranger

Post by kf7mjf »

So... I found a guy parting out a 67, and asked about the doors, hoping they were rust free. They were. $80 for the pair, well I'm all over that like politicians on campaign donations.

Turns out the entire truck was available, and also cancer free.

Downsides... radiator and battery stolen by crackheads. Cracked front windshield. Rear tailgate damaged beyond repair. Missing rear trim. Vinyl on doors damaged and needing replaced. Holes cut in doors for 9" speakers... glove box won't latch.

Upside... original upholstery intact and in perfect shape.

Original carpeting in good shape. Dashpad nearly perfect in every single way. Only a single crack in the steering wheel.

Long story short, I swapped a couple of guns I got cheap and a little bit of cash for the truck, and will be having it towed back to my place in a couple weeks when I get time off work again.

One thing I noticed is that the doors were drilled for West Coast Jr mirrors. Was this available on the Rangers? I'm going to pull parts from my rust bucket 67 Camper Special for this one... tailgate, West Coast Jr. mirrors, radio, and radiator.

Nice score. Glad to hear you are saving the truck from being parted out.

Thanks. I was very surprised at what I wound up getting. I can't wait to get it home, clean it up and start putting it back together. As a fun side note, the crackheads left the radiator cap after gleefully stealing the radiator (scrap copper) and battery (worth all of $4 as scrap around here)

The Bumpbug has got you now... I see you have gone from "what is" to "I don't know if I'm going to keep it" to a pair in record time.

Once you get your parts swapped around to suit you, I might be in the market for what's left since I am currently Bumpless... :(

Friend of mine is taking the camper special. I can steer you towards a 67 in Shelton that should be had at a reasonable price though. Guy has been trying to sell it for $800 for ages with no bites, but it sounds like about as much a rust bucket as my cs.

Yeah, I got the bug. I expected parts, not a ranger loaded with goodies, and for the pri ce, the choice was obvious. You may want to check Craigslist. There was a 67 hi boy for $1800 too.
