Thanks Larry, BTW, where is Phelan CA? Must be in the southern part of the state or remote northern, because I don't recognize the town's name. I'm two plus hours north of San Francisco.

Phelan is located in SoCal's Mojave Desert near Victorville CA just off highway 15 which is the main route travelers take between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Pretty desolate out here, mostly cattle and horse ranches. Reminds me of west Texas.

i have went to victorville once or twice. to the roadway terminal to drop off ford parts. all of the sudden you are in desert. and then you come up on the terminal and nothing else around. but more high desert.

Yup... that pretty much describes Phelan, a wide spot in the road with only one traffic light in town and a whole lot of wide open desert around it. There are more horses here than vehicles.
