Steering wheel sitting too far off horn contacts

Post by f100mike »

Hey yall, reassembling the upper column & steering wheel after installation of a new turn signal switch and contact brush. When the 15/16 nut is fully tight on the steering wheel, I can stick my finger in the crack between the back of the steering wheel and the next piece of the steering column (where the shift indicator and such are located).

What am I missing? This is a 1972 F100, auto trans w/factory PS, PB.

Was it that way before you disassembled it? You might find what you need in this thread. http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... =5&t=48077

you need to adjust the outer steering column up towards the steering wheel. and then retighten the lower adjuster clamp.
