I have a 1970 F-100 that I'm restoring. I find myself wanting to upgrade the ride and handling capabilities to what you would find in a new truck as my plan is to use this truck as a daily driver. I guess you would call this a resto-mod as I plan to add power steering, auto, air, etc.
I've seen I beams that lower the front of the truck about 3 to 4" and different shackles and springs that would lower the rear advertised in various places, but I'm uncertain what the result would be in terms of handling characteristics.
I've also given thought to putting a air ride suspension under the whole thing.
Any ideas, thoughts or suggestions anyone could offer would be appreciated.

I put a 2006 crown vic front suspension in mine as a lot of guys have. I'm not on the road yet hope to be this summer. in the rear i'm running leaf springs with the axle on top of the springs for now.

I would go CV if you wanna go lower, and have your tires last.
Plus you get 12" disc brakes, rack and pinion steering, and it practicall bolts in. All you need to do is weld on a rear A arm mount and fab up a motor mount. I saw where one guy used the stock motor mounts, and modified the bottom to make it work.

You will be amazed what a new, stock-style suspension will feel like. I restored my truck with new everything (gear box, pump, drag link, tie rods, sway bar, leaf springs, poly-bushing, rebuilt steering column, etc) and it handles and feels great! My buddies that have driven it can't believe they are driving a truck since it drives so well.
