Post by ddunaway »

I am planning on doing the Crown Vic IFS mod and would like to hear your suggestions for lowering the rear.

You can do a flip kit or link the rear.

quantumleap, Sorry to say i don't have a PepBoys near me and my attempts to look it up on line failed. Do yo have a better name or part number? I am close to being done with the CV front so i think i will be looking into building a c-notch for the back and doing a flip. not sure if i will also need to lower the leaf hanger in the front also.

Just flip the rear axle. It will give you around 6" of drop, no need to mess with the hanger brackets.

I have the flex-o-matic rear leafs and a flip. Drop is perfect and no need for a c notch. You can notch it tho if you plan on haulin something. I haven't bottomed out, so I'm going to only do it when I bag it. All you need is leaf spring pad mounts for a 3" axle tube and a pinion angle finder. Don't mess with the drop kits from other companies as they never have the pinion set right and usualy have to shim them. Just set up pinion angle and weld them up. You can cut your old ones off later if you want.

Not on my 68... As of yet. I had done the swap on a 69 lwb I had for a "stress remover". I sold it about a year ago. Thats how I set that one up. Flip and CV front. Had bulit style 18x10 out back on redrilled axles and Torino drums. and 18x8 in front.
