Front panhard bar/ Lift question

Post by 67nukeford »

Hey all, just got the front suspension back together on my 67 last night. Went to install the panhard bar, and I've found that it's way off. Now, I'm using 2" lift springs, so I'm assuming I may have to either get a new bar, or have my lengthened out.

Any info you can provide would be great, thanks! :fr:

Panhard bar is used to center the axle under the chassis. Also called a track bar.

Are you sure the axle is centered under the truck? If not, you can use a ratchet strap to center it up. Any lift would benefit from a longer panhard bar or drop bracket, simply because the geometry has changed. I wouldn't think that only 2 inches of lift would have that big of an effect though.

Checking your old posts , it looks like you used a '79 disc front end .
If so you need the bar that came with the axle.

I'll probably go with a drop bracket. I really need to get some weight on the front end also, to see where it's going to sit, with the motor, trans, and cab on it.
