Timmytim's 1970 f100

Post by timmytim »

Here is my Truck. I plan to chronicalize my experiences working on it. It looks great at 10 foot but a closer look and you will see alot of work. It has a 240 inline 6 with a auto and 370 gears. Standard brakes and manual steering. The man before me took out the 3 on the tree and put in a modified auto trans for towing. With only 37k miles plus it has little more than a heater and seat. Over time this will change

I have already replaced the points with a pertronix ignitor, new plugs, wire, cap, rotor button, and coil. Replaced the flasher. Replaced the nss. Added 40 series flowmaster with duel tail pipes. Tinted the windows. Added alarm system. And added a tach...

Next on my to do list is power steering. I have already bout all of the parts mostly used. I degreased the parts and painted flat black. While I have the pulleys off I will replace the water pump with a new one(see new blue waterpump in pic). The one on the truck is making a bearing noise.

I know what you mean I just had a 70 F100 that had a 302/NP435 and I traded it for a 69 F250 highboy with a 300/NP435 and the 300 has more pulling power than that 302 did...but the 4wd probably helps tooo  . Myself I've awlyes kinda had a thing for the old inlines espically for towing or pulling something

Is your inline all stock?

Just to verify, you do have a P/S column also right? You will need one for the P/S swap.

Looks like a slick old ford to me. I bet it pulls like a ox with the 3:70's in the rear.

fordtruck, yea its all stock all the way down to the one barrel!!! It redlines at about 3800rpm...it sounds real good with that 40 flowmaster...at idle you would swear it was a 5.0
