repair drag link?

Post by sargentrs »

Can the ball joint ends of a drag link be repaired or replaced or do you have to buy the whole thing? Pulling the one's from the parts truck and they look pretty bad. The rubber's rotten and the threads are damaged on the ends. Thought about pulling the front end out of the parts truck, reworking it, and then just drop the one out of my truck and put the reworked up under it. That way my truck would only be down for a day or two at most. If the ends of the drag link/tie rods are still in one piece and not grinding around loosely, are they OK? Thanks in advance!

why don't you buy a new one?
I can take a look I think I may have the one from the 68 before I went to disc. and it wasn't that old..

I've got a driver's outer tie rod and a P/S pitman arm on ebay, if either of those will help:

That's what I figgered. Didn't look like it would be easy. Maybe between the two trucks I'll have a good set. If not, looks like the old bank account will have to take another hit. :D Thanks, guys!
