Can someone help me I D this steering gear.

Post by jzjames »

I was in Autozone and the clerk asked if that was my truck, "yes", then did it have power steering? "no", well would I like a free rebuilt power steering gear for it? "Oh yeah!". He said he had one that had been rebuilt, took it out when he junked his truck and it was just sitting there, never going to use it. I went back the next day and got it, but I cannot see how this is going to fit my 67? I tried to decipher the numbers on it; C9AR-C, and 3A587A. Does anybody recognize this? Im thinking it may be for an earlier 61-66 Ford. Maybe a 4X4? At least it's got a really nice ragjoint
Can anyone help me out? Here it is.

Saginaw gear, but not for an F-series truck.
Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools talk because they have to say something.--Plato
Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???

That's not an oil leak :nono: That's SWEAT from all that HORSEPOWER!!

Give me the numbers off the tag that's held on by one of the two top cover bolts, I can decipher those for you. The number I need should start off with 'SPA-'.

However, that appears to be a '79 F250 4WD steering box.

That is not a 4x4 box. It is from a Ford car.

After a second look that looks like a 1980-97 truck box.
