is a 67 to 79 chassis swap possible?
I was wondering how hard it would be to put a 79 F350 4x4 chassis underneath a 67 F250 LWB cab and bed. Does anyone have any experience attempting this?

If I remember right the cab floor pans are the same, but not sure about the bed, some later 70's f-series had wider frames, but with a welder and some fab skills almost anything is possible, you might ask around in the 4wd section , there are some sharp guys lurking in there

from what ive heard on her the bed sets back 3-4 inches and would have to moved foward. theres a section in here about making the swap.

to add to this the frame behind the cab is wider and to mount the bed will require drilling new holes in your bed. I did this swap to get a 4x4 i didnt want to modify my bed so i am putting a flat bed on it as of right now.
I don't really care about brands Chevy Ford Dodge ...as long as it doesn't sound like two old dudes farting in a coffee can.

i cant remember exactly about the 78 /79 frames. but you can find all the info by looking through the pages on the site. http://www.fordification.com/siteindex.htm it seems to me the frames up to and including 77 are the same width as our trucks. that is only on the 4wd highboys though. the 2wd are wider behind the cab so the bed bolting procedure is different than just bolting a 2wd frame to our beds. now as far as how the cabs are made they are the same as far as how they would bolt on. that is not a problem. it would be distances that you would be concerned with. but i am sure that frame to cab adapters could be made if a width difference is found. as far as the bed. s small plate bolted to the frame under the rail and running out to the original bed bolt holes would be all that would be needed to mount the bed to the wider frames.
