brake booster options...

Post by mustangsvo85 »

I've got a 69 f100 without power brakes and drum front. I'm about to swap to the disk brakes, but what are my power brake options? I have had a couple other f series trucks from the late 70's and they had the booster mounted strait to the firewall, unlike the hydroboost setup. I don't want the old style setup, can anyone direct me to what to look for?

If you don't want the stock style booster mounted to the firewall I think you are left with the Hydroboost you mentioned.
I saw a thread on here about it the other day so do a search. I think they are using an Astro Van unit.

i dont know much about the hydroboost. but it also mounts to the firewall. as does the original brake booster do . via the brake booster brackets.

i have found a cache of 67-72 f100 short beds out in the desert and this guy has factory 5 lug disk brakes on two of them. are these the same as the 73-74 front disks? i just don't want to have hard to find parts.

They were probably swapped over sometime in their lives like a lot of us do to our trucks. Measure the lug nut pattern on them. If they are 5x5/12 they are Ford brakes. Did I get the lug pattern right guys? lol
