Drum to Disc swap/trade in progress

Post by ChrisB »

Donor is a 69 Camper special 390/C6 3.54 open

Implantee is a 72 Custom 6BD1T-Np435+Eaton OD-3.54 open

Can almost hear dueling banjos in the background for this face off.

The whole disc front end will be torn down, kingpins checked, possibly replaced, blasted, possibly powder coated. Working delivering parts and sourcing new parts.

Any recommendations on where to one stop trailing arm bushings, I-beam pivot bushings, rear leaf bushings etc? Starting with NAPA locally.

This disc donor has twin piston calipers as I don't think the single vs. twin piston caliper option showed up until 73 and I'm guessing won't work with these spindles. I've heard the single piston version is generally preferred, anyone know why this is?

This has 1/2 - 20 wheels studs that stick out about 1.0" from the wheel mount surface. I am looking to mount later model 16" factory Alcoas and need 1.5-2.0" stud length. Anyone know if any 68-72 F250s came with larger diameter and or longer studs? F350s? If I can get longer/larger studs by ordering something else, I'll do so, question is, any of the larger hubs run inner and outer wheel bearings that have the same inside diameter and will work with my spindles. By the way the spindles on the donor look pristine, wiped the grease off and they're shiny and not scuffed whatsoever.

I guess that's it for now.

On edit, not sure if those pics need to be approved by mods but I'm not seeing them. I just shoved three different imageshack urls between the two image codes in brackets.
