Helper spring stands out

Post by Florian »

Hi!

The helper spring on the driver´s side of my ´71 F100 Custom stands out towards the center of the rear axle. I have to repair this in order to pass the tech test here in Germany.

Here is a picture:

Is there any chance that the helper spring could be moved in it´s original position with a hammer when the spring is unloaded? Or do I have to remove the spring?

Thanks!

yes a hammer is the way to go. you can then buy a strap thing to put over it so it wont move again if you want.

yes smack that spring back inline, then re-torque the u bolts. There aren't any bands needed to hold this spring in place.
