Beware of chinese front brake hoses
Tried to put new NAPA (yep, made in China) front brake hoses on my '69 F100 today and they were totally made wrong. The hex on the wheel cylinder side hit the spindle before it would tighten down. Same crap at O'Riellys. Finaly found USA made at Carquest and they fit just fine. Had me scared that I wouldn't be able to find the right ones.

Re: Beware of chinese front brake hoses
the 72 brake hoses were made with a longer steel piece at the end where they hook to the wheel cylinder. and they are suppose to only be made for the 72 and up trucks i think. it was part of fords revision and getting trucks ready for disc brakes in 73. i think that is what i read. anyway the chinese parts were probably made with that in mind. and they figured why make two different ones . the newer ones should fit the older trucks. but they obivously dont you found out. im not even sure where on the site i read that. it was probably in kieths site pages. but i cant remember where to even look for it.

Beware of ANY Chinese auto parts, especially bearings and brake parts.
We had a customer once that supplied his own (Chinese) brake rotors. During the test drive after the brake job, something didn't feel right. We pulled the rotors off again and put them on the lathe. The rotors were warped straight out of the box (apparently they were machined on junk equipment).

You can resurface them, as long as you stay above the min. thickness spec.

I'm sorry if I ask lots of questions, there's just a lot of stuff I don't know (yet).

Re: Beware of chinese front brake hoses
Got all new custom made break line hose's a whole 2 inches longer made here in the Lone Star State. The two front and rear along with the the ones that screw into the front wheel cylinder. Total cost $150. It was worth it tho, the only problem is on one they properly didn't double flare it right. Took it back and with in 5 mins they fixed it.
They did an awesome job, glad I got 100% American made and I dont think I have anything that is made in china on my truck. The only thing that is foreign is my alternator and that was made it Mexico and since its my 3rd one in 2 years I not going to get another from Autozone when it craps out again.

we had the exact same scenario with chinese made brake drums, turned them and all was wellBobbyFord wrote:Beware of ANY Chinese auto parts, especially bearings and brake parts.

Re: Beware of chinese front brake hoses
i have been removing seat belts with a T50 socket. and with the rust on them the socket havent been holding up good enough. so withthe last one i bougth it was a lisle. or how ever it is spelled. its suppose to be a good name in brake parts and tool manufacture. i put it on my impact so that it would spin and not want to get stuck. i barley bumped the impact it jumped out of the bolt and twisted. what junk. so i went and bougth an american made lifetime guarnteed socket today. and i was able to use it with my ratchet. it didnt twist it grabbed and took the bolts out the first time. we were also at walmart tonight. and we went looking for a bread loaf pan. they had three to choose from. we bought the anchor one. because it was made in america. even though it was glass instead of metal liek we really would have rather had. or i wanted anyway. american made was my choice and is going to start being my choice for things that i want to last.
