What would cause this?

Post by OldRedFord »

Friend of mine has a 1970 F100 with manual steering. The steering has a lot of play and around 50 mph he is experiencing "floating" with the steering. Like moving the wheel a bit and no response.

What could be causing this? Worn joints in the drag link?

loose steering can happen in any of the steering componets that can wear out. rag joint column bearings steering gear drag link and ball joints and so on. he just has to check it all out and fix what he can when he can to make it start getting better.
