idles off i think

been trying to time it. i may be doing damage by driving it, its really has no power,,, i dont have a light. but moved it again to hopefully get some
more speed, now in idle it gives a weird bump (miss) in idle . any experience with this, ,

Warm the truck up to normal, turn up idle a little high. Shut off engine and loosen distributor, start engine be carful of fan, turn the distributor and listen for highest rpm, if you keep turning the rpm will drop, turn back to highest rpm. Then once that is done reset the idle and take for a test drive. this should get you in a ball park till you can put a light on it. Hope it helps you some .

seems the if i turn it to the left or right i get a high idle , do i go left or right,

Go until engine rpms start to go down then turn back to highest rpm.
