got bored today..

Post by englertstephen »

I got bored today after work. So I decided to lower my truck a little more. Axle has been flipped, today I added shackles. Its still not low enough  I want to lay frame soo bad, just no money  If i get 20s and some low profile tires, they should be the same overall diameter as my wheels and tires now.

Yeah man, that looks awesome. I left you a reply in the "Lowered Bumps" thread before I saw this...

Now that you lowered the rear more, do you have any problem with the top of the tires hitting the top of the wheel wells in the bed?
Your "before" pic looks about where my truck is now...And I wanna lower mine more. I would love bags, but I'm broke too...
What's the overall height of your tires, and what size rims are those now?

Did you do anything to the front?

I appreciate it marz. I can remember seeing pictures of your truck back in 05? maybe? When you had some different wheels..I think it was a pic at a car show or something with no hood on it. Anyways..I always told my friends I wanted a lowered bump. They always argued it would look dumb. I had to use your truck to prove them wrong. That was back when it seemed like there was no one into lowering these trucks. I'm glad you were around so I could show people I'm not crazy. Bumps do look good lowered. I think i would just be happy with something like your original 4 link in the rear though.I don't know about the front yet.

Do you know a measurement of how much the shackles dropped it? I want to lower my 72 some, and don't want to put alot of $ in it yet. Shackles may get the amount I want.

I think the shackles were 2 in. I already forgot. There are two types 13-4300, and 13-4100. The 13-4100 is more of a drop than the 13-4300.

2 inch would be great. So, that is the 13-4100 you used right?

What kind of suspension travel do you have between the axle housing and the frame rails?

13-4100 is correct. Its close between the axle housing and the frame rails. I live on a very crappy road, and it hasn't bottomed yet. I am going to have to c-notch it before I can use it as a truck again. before I put the shackles on I used the truck to help a buddy move and had no problems. If you just did the axle flip, you can still use it without worrying about bottoming.

Right now, I am only looking for 2 - 3 inches, and I wont be hauling much with it. I figure if I can get 2 from a shackle and around an inch from the helper spring I will have it where I want it for now. I live on a rough gravel road, so I can't go slamming mine! Even though it looks good, I gotta keep mine up to go on the road and also to keep VA state police happy! I will most likely cut a couple rounds in front to lower it where I want it.

If the rims you had on it now were solid dish/white, i think would look cool. With chrome center caps though. The last pic can kinda give you the idea of what I mean. A white solid dish inset a little.
