2 Fuel Pumps Blown in One Month

Post by rabbithunter2005 »

So i got a 390 in my truck which is great but i have this problem with the engine chewin up fuel pumps. Both pumps that i replaced still worked but they were leaking where the brass colored bell bottom shaped piece meets the alumnium piece that bolts to the timing cover (don't know the technical terms that was the best i could come up with lol). Has anyone else had this problem.

That brass colored piece you described is most likely your fuel filter housing. It screws onto the fuel pump much like an oil filter installs. It is possible that all you needed to do was tighten the housing just a tad to stop the leak. And yes thats fairly common in a replacement pump of that type.
