Slight problem with drum

Post by 1970f100x »

Ok, so I took off my wheel today, and I went to pull the drum off, and its stuck. So I banged on it, then I torched it, and nothing. It feels as if its almost welded right onto axle. Btw, it is the driver rear. Any suggestions?

More heating and more beating.

Try spraying some penetrant in the stud holes.

I've seen someone use a big puller.

I also had one I couldn't save and had to cut and break it up.

I have gotten them off by useing 2 pry bars opposite of each other to put pressure on the drum and then tapping on the end of the axle with a big hammer. This is easier if you have help. You don't want to hit it so hard you beat up the end of the axle. Hitting lightly with a big hammer seems to work better than hitting hard with a small hammer.
