Horn button question
I have what I think is a 1970 steering column on my 1972 F100. The horn doesn't work right now so i'm wanting to know what parts are needed to get it to work. I took off the steering cap by turning it counter-clockwise and there's nothing underneath. I know there's a spring and a contact brush but not sure what other parts go in there to make it work.

Re: Horn button question
My horn button was lost by by the p/o for I dont know how long. I guess the parts got real comfortable with eachother over the years because it took a few weeks for them to finally work free once I had a working button. So if its been a while without use it could just take some time to break loose.

Is anyone able to ID that steering wheel and column? I think it's a 1970, but i'm not sure.

Re: Horn button question
from the horn button it looks to be a 67-70 type. without seeing the wiring plug on the bottom who knows for sure. its not a 71/72 column.

Re: Horn button question
The shifter collar you have looks like it came after '69 because it has more material around the shift arm roll pin/pivot point. Ford realized that their wasnt enough metal there to keep the roll pin from wearing the hole into an oval and made it a little beefier to minimize the shifter from getting really sloppy. They got better in '70 or '71, just got one @ pick-n-pull the other day. The one major difference w/the '69 is that the shift indicator on the top of the collar went from being part off the casting to a separate piece that inserted into it.
If you showed us what the connection looked like it would probably be an easy id.
