should be "breaks" instead of "brakes"
they are busted.
mine KINDA worked a little, and then I replaced my carb. the line from the Brake Booster runs to my intake manifold (I have a 351c) and now it doesn't stop for ****. I can have the Pedal mashed to the floor and still back out of my slanted driveway when in gear...... any ideas? I have an aftermarket Disc setup for the front (which they say bolts right up to my stock system, no need to change booster/master cylinder) but I cant' even drive this thing to go have it put on.

Hey man new to this site need a liitle info on your brakes. Getting your booster vaccum from intake is cool should have plenty of it unless there is a leak in the intake and did u put on a proportioning valve that changed your front to rear ratio. you did convert to front disc?

well it could be that the engine is running better now and pulling more vacuum. so the booster is working better. so the brakes now work worse because they are easier to push.. i would redo your brakes or go ahead with the disc setup. if the booster was bad you would have a bad vacuum leak and the enigne would run bad because of the big vacuum leak.

if it isn't what i posted before mayeb the vacuum line has a leak now. or the lines just rusted through or something similar. just by coincidence (sp). it just happened at the same time by accident. check them out. i really don't think the carb had anything to do with it. unless you bumped something and didn't relize it.

what does the pedal feel like, does the travel stop well above the floor board, firm hard pedal ? Does go to the floor, and feel like stepping on plum ? You show be able to keep the truck from rolling down your drive way w/ or w/o a working booster. I think you had better look at your brakes Hydraulic system.
If you find you have a bad master cylinder, I would go forward w/ the disc swap, you will need a master cylinder for a disc/drum system.

firm/hard pedal, but very little braking, any leads where I could get a master cylinder for disc/drum? looked on ebay but most of the sellers I've contacted.......weren't sureif it would work for me.

If you have a good firm pedal my next suspicion would be drum condition and lining. Hard glazed linings and hardened blue drums requires tremendous pedal effort. Also look at the shoe adjustment.

Re: should be "breaks" instead of "brakes"
well I started putting the parts on tonight.......and NOTHING is right. the rotor doesn't fit the spindle right, the directions suck, the outside wheel bearing doesn't go far enough on the spindle......I think they got mixed up. or they just suck. anyone know of a rotor that bolts on and uses the stock wheel bearings?

i think 73 and 74 are direct bolt on rotors and bearings.
