Caliper orentaion

Post by Texas69 »

Converted my 69 100 to disk from 73 donor. New rotors, calipers, bearings, and brake hoses. Can the calipers be put on upside down or left side right side (I guess i should of took pics from 73 before I dissembled them). If they are like I have them than the hoses don't look right. Can some one send some pics? I feel like a idiot :hmm:

yes this has happened before to other guys. they have to go on one way only. but they will fit on either side and upside down. but they wont work right. i do not know whihc way is up on them but the brake line has to be at the top and the bleeder valve has to be at the highest point it can be.

Hi Texas69! I just re-did the factory disc brakes on my truck. In addition to what Fordman and Heep70 are saying, it may help to know that on the '72 brakes, the caliper pistons are on the insides (closest to the frame), facing out (towards the hub caps). Here's a photo of my driver's side setup if it helps any.

Thanks for the pic. Is this the driver side or the passenger side. Of course mine are half tone 5 lug single piston. I got eveything together and it looks right but the brake lines I bought just dont work. I didnt get the brake line brackets from the 73 that bolt to the frame though and wondering if this is throwing the brake lines off? :?
