Shop walls
I pulled the old wood paneling off the shop walls to make the rewire job easier and now I need to decide what to put up after I install insulation. I'm thinking maybe some sort of 12 to 18 inch high heavy duty wall kick panel sort of thing and then sheet rock to the ceiling. Anybody done anything like this that wants to share a photo or ideas?

Re: Shop walls
That was my first thought, but I do, if the stars aline just right, will get rain water in one of the bays so I was looking for a waterproof option. I know there is no such thing as water-proof.

Consider letting the water in. Make a 4" cut in the floor along the wall where the water comes in. Dig out the dirt about one foot down in the 4" trench. Fill that with stone. At one end of the trench dig a hole 3' deep and 18" in diameter. Get an 18" diameter plastic pipe and drill holes all around the circumfrence of it and put it in the 3' deep hole. Put 12" of 3/4 stone in the bottom and set a sump pump in the hole. Pipe the water from the sump pump down hill from the garage. You now have a dry garage.

if you do the draingage pipe put hay over the pipe before the gravel covers it. that helps as a filter for the drainge pipeholes. the more the better they say.

Re: Shop walls
Not going to cut any cement over this. If I just keep the gutters clean the water is not an issue. Its just when somebody forgets to clean the gutters and it rains heavy I get overflow right in front of door number 1 and it flows into the garage. I just figure now is the time to install a little backup plan. I dont want to hang sheetrock and have the bottom half of it turn green in six months because I forgot to clean the gutters.

Re: Shop walls
You could always put a 2x6 pressure treated 'curb' around the inside perimeter, then drywall. Pegboard is nice from about waist high on up, just paint whatever you put up white.

The 2X6 idea is starting to attach itself to me. Thanks

Re: Shop walls
you can also put that drainage pip ein fornt of the door outside to divert the water from coming in. as well as the bottom board thing.
