It doesn't look like the one I pulled from a '71 and used on my '68 CS

Here's a pic of the one that came off a '71 CS

that is one of those wierdo setups from the dentside era. i wouldn't want to use it. i think they call it a bellcrank setup. i ould shy away from it if you can. it may bolt in and work but gives a different height and strength of braking power. atleast thats what i was told about those setups.

That is a linkage style set of booster brackets. They were used from 65-79 but only on certain applications (mostly the heavy duty ones). They are the best for doing a swap because they use the flat bar to hook to the brake pedal so you can simply make a new bar or drill a hole in that one if it is long enough. There are basically three sizes of boosters that fit those brackets, they do come in the standard large size F100/F150 booster but were usually only on cruise control trucks so they are rare, they are very common on the medium size dual diaphragm boosters used on F250 and F350 and is probably the booster you would want to use and they also came in the large F350 dual diaphragm booster but those are really rare and expensive usually and are overkill for most trucks (I do have one on my Crew Cab though!). The two side brackets are the same as a regular booster as well. I can't tell which booster you have from the pics but it looks to be an F100/F150 booster. The shaft has a number stamped in it under the boot, post the number and I will identify it for you. Hawkrod

ok,thanks for the info, I'll see what I can do about getting that number. Please forgive my ignorance as I don't really
know what I'm doing but I'm still gonna try. Correct me if I'm wrong, but what I'm hearing is that I can use (and probably should) the booster and brake pedal brackets, however, the MC is a piece of crap?

Oh BTW, I also know that the brackets and booster assembly came off the same truck.( 90% sure)

With that particular booster and bracket setup you do not need to do anything with the pedal or under the dash, that is why they are more desirable than the other style. Just mount it up and determine if it fits as is or if you need to make a new hole for the brake pedal attachment on the flat bar (it is super easy, a real no brainer). Hawkrod

Do me a favor and clean that puppy real well and check the numbers again. 4 288 B does not show in my list although they do abreviate sometimes. How large in diameter is it? The 288 booster shows 11 3/4, is listed as a dual diaphragm and fits a 77-79 F250 2 wheel drive but that is not what yours appears to be (but I could easily be wrong!). Hawkrod

Where is that stamped? The number I am looking for is usually stamped on the pushrod into the booster. It may be under the rubber boot. If that is it then my books have finally let me down! Hawkrod

Hawkrod, sorry it took almost 2 years to get the number, you know the game, forget,..remember, wrong timing etc...etc..

I dug this booster back out today and it is a Bendix 10144 (on the bell) and on the rod, if I remember correctly, FN 17 ?

When I shake the booster it sounds like there's dirt inside; that's not rotten rubber from the diaphragm making that sound is it? When I compress the plunger it seems like it's ok. The m/c is def. toast though, two years rusting can take its toll.

after a few years of knowing more. yes you can use that in your 67. the reason is . is that you can drill out the flat bar to make it work with your 67 brake pedal rod length.
