Project update.

Post by V Majestyk »

I was pretty sure when I drove my latest project home that she was going to need a motor. Rough idle, smoke, low power, ect. Looked like 107k worth of rode hard.No rust, few dents, all there, all original fixer-upper. I was happily mistaken! Further examination once I got her home showed 4 weak cylinders. This was NOT bad news due to the locations, :woohoo: 2 inboard on the right bank,2outboard on the left. Carb Problems! First look inside seemed fine, clean, correct float setting, ect. Closer inspection found large grains of sand lodged in one of the emulsion tubes. Now I know why I had one sluggish idle screw and blew my first emissions test at 4 times the HC limit with low CO!! A quick venturi swap from an old core straightened out most of the issues. She runs strong, passed emissions, got new plates and hauls me to work daily! She still puffs a little blue when I let off to shift, but not bad for a straight, $15hundred buck truck! Rolling restoration begins!! As soon as I learn how to upload pics, I'll send some of my "new"old truck.
Don't need re-stored,can,t wear the d*mn thing out !
