headers really close to PS box

Post by 1971ford »

just installed hedman headers and there is about 1, maybe 2mm's of space between a header pipe and the PS box. will the heat from the headers affect anything in the PS box :?

Im sure it will be fine. Just make sure you have a power steering cooler somewhere to help cool it down.

I agree...as long as you have a good cooler, you'll be fine. If you're worried about it, you can always install a larger PS cooler, but it's not necessary.

You can wrap the header with header wrap too.

I like to wrap all the header. It reduces engine bay heat pretty good. Race shop might have some by the foot. I would still use the cooler for the power steering. Here is what summit has

A boneyard aux tranny cooler works pretty well as a PS cooler.
