I know this vehicle isn't a bump but thought I would ask here.
I bought a 92 F250 on an auction. Pretty sure it sat a couple years. It is dual fuel and I finally got time to get it running good on propane. I had driven it on gas too.
Anyway the front brakes get tight when I drive it. I did some tests and as soon as I got home I cracked a bleeder and there was no pressure built up. They seem to release fairly fast after I stop, usually. I checked the rod and it has no adjustment or stop on the pedal so I don't think it is applying pressure that way. I unhooked the vacuum and it didn't seem as bad but still there was some drag.
A few weeks ago I drove it out about 2 miles and it got so bad on the way home it would slide a front tire in the gravel on the shoulder of the road.
I drive it around the yard cold and apply the brakes several times with no ill effects. It seems to build pressure on it's own while driving, like without me even using the brake pedal. Also I have completely ruled out any issue with the rear or parking brakes, it is definately the fronts. I'm a little baffled and can't afford to throw parts at it in the name of diagnostics. Any suggestions?

sounds like an internal split in the hose. It's not releasing pressure fast enough.

It builds up pressure as I drive without even touching the pedal.

x2. even tho your not pushing the pedal, the oscillation (sp?) of the rotor will move the pad in & out ever so slightly, if you have a internal flaw on the inside of the hose it will act like a 1way check valve. Redneck tho it is, pinch off the brake hose on the offneding side with a set of vise grips, & see what happens.flyboy2610 wrote:sounds like an internal split in the hose. Also brake fluid has an affinity to collect water. water will expand when it gets hot. If the truck sat for @ 2years. your brake fluid is probably contaminated. The rear brake springs would hide this symptom in the rear. I would do a full system bleed just because it sat for 2 years.
Good luck
Ps don't over look the the rear brake abs accumulator when you do your bleed. On the driver side inside frame rail under cab.
