My frame VIN

Post by flyboy2610 »

I had hoped to get a photo of my frame's VIN number, since a previous owner swapped the driver's side door and didn't change the VIN tag.
There isn't much left of it.
It seems Ford stamped the VIN AFTER the frame had been undercoated and painted. After 37 years of wear there isn't much left of the paint, so not much left of the VIN.
Definetly NOT one of Ford's beter ideas! :x
Sorry for the poor picture quality. It's a LITTLE easier to see in person.

There's two locations for the VIN stampings, how does the other one look?

The photo you attached above is not the VIN...it's the frame engineering (?) number. Here's a view of the same area of the frame of the '67 F250 I picked up:

The link Barry posted above shows the two frame locations for the actual VIN.

I found this number in the location described in the above link.
I did rub chalk in it to bring it out as best I could. I stiil wish Ford had stamped it deeper. I won't know what the mid frame VIN looks like until I get the cab rocked back.
I drew lines to show what numbers I can see.

Well I'll be darned! That's the first time I've seen it on the side of the frame like that. Cool! So where exactly is it again? Right/left side, how far from the front?

But it's on the side, instead of the top of the rail. I've never seen a VIN on one of these trucks on the side like that.

Yea, it is on top. The picture showing the location is a bit misleading. Sorry about that.
