Problem with new brake booster.
'68 F-100, manual drum brakes. So, I got a power brake booster from a member here. I finally got around to installing it today. Everything was going fine until I was finishing up and attached the booster rod to the brake pedal under the dash. When I got it attached, the pedal was super, super stiff. I tried to push it down and it would only go an inch or two. I thought with the engine running it might go back to normal. After letting the truck warm up a bit I tried to move....just as I thought, the brakes are fully applied.
I know there is an adjustment where the brake pedal attaches to the booster rod. I don't think this will help in my case. In some other posts I've read there is mention of an adjustable rod between the booster and the master cylinder, but mine had no adjustments.
Did I do something wrong?? Any ideas why my brakes are fully applied.

I think they said the booster came off a '71 or '72 truck.

Ya, pics may help.
Are you absolutely sure the rod between the booster and the MC is not adjustable? Mine is on my 67, and I had to do a bit of adjusting on it for things to work correct.

re: Problem with new brake booster.
The rod between the master cylinder and the booster is not adjustable. It is, however, a little smaller than the one that was in the master cylinder. With the master cylinder removed from the booster, the brake pedal frees up and goes all the way to the floor. I got some pictures, but I have to figure out how to get them on here. Dial up stinks!!
In the picture the rod on the left in the one that I have been using. I can't reuse it because on the other end it attaches to the brake pedal and can't be put in the booster.
The rod on the right is the one that came with the brake booster.

Here are the 2 rods that go into the master cylinder.
The shiney gold one is the one that I have been using.

Here's a picture of the booster rod attaching to the brake pedal. The lock nut has been loosened.

It should just work... I bought my brake booster new from Advanced auto parts when I put it in... Wasn't a problem.... Except, my roomate put it in, and didn't adjust the rod that hooks to the pedal correctly. I don't know how expensive they are, but I think I only paid 40 bucks for mine... Worst case scenerio, you go by one from advance and try it out. If you have the same problem take it back. If it works, talk to the guy that sold you the brake booster.
