Up through 1960, Ford used a different parts number system, one that started getting crowded as newer cars had more options and various parts available. Therefore, effective Sept. 1, 1960, Ford implemented the alpha-digit system that we're now familiar with. This 16-page brochure is a basic primer to the dealers about why such a change is in order and how the new parts numbering system would work.
