
Brake lines

Brake lines
I am going to replumb my brake lines front to back and wondered what source for lines and fitting you guys are using? To Anybody that has done this job did you go back with standard tubing or the stainless steel? I know you can get the prebend kit from LMC but after looking at the system it can't be hard to bend your own and maybe clean up the appearance a little under the hood. Also does one of the suppliers sell the black plastic pieces that hold the brake lines and fuel line to the frame? I have not see them in any of my mags. Thanks in advance

I get steel lines at Napa. The clips & such are available there as well

NPD (National Parts Depot) also has brake lines on page 32 of their 5th edition catalog for 1949 - 1979 Ford Trucks. I'm lucky enough to be able to walk into their sales counter/showroom/auto museum here and get stuff right away.
I can say that the tranny lines I got, steel, for a '66 Mustang were pretty good. The one tranny line was different at one end at the tranny, but I was able to buy a fitting similar to the other Mustangs' tranny line fittings that I have here and got it installed. They went right in though and when I compared them to the twisted off lines they were just about exact matches.

I redid the lines going to the to front breaks. I used the same size on everything just got some new tubing and I also reused the (bolt fittings)whatever you want to call them. the only hard thing is bending them to a good position under the truck.

My local 'Parts Plus' place has a plastic coated line that I use... not much more expensive, and it doesn't rust away as fast.
They use a lot of salt on the roads here, so even a year later you can see a BIG difference.
Make sure you use a double flare tool...
