Personally I think its unnecessary. If they are in good working order you shouldn't need them! :2cents: :2cents:

I have built them before for a D60, a 14 bolt and now doing a set for my 80 Toyota.

Built the backing plate using 3/8" and a spacer using 1/2"

78-88 Rear cadillac Ederado calipers w/ E-brake

86-89 Front Chevy Light 4X4 Vented Rotors 1" Thick

You can also use Ford rotors but the spacer thinkness I believe changes to 3/8".

Here is a pattern that was kinda like what I did.

There are lots of folks out there now that sell kits to do this swap.

The pics below are of the 14 bolt without the E-brake caliper.

i think the linc. rear has a different bolt pattern. you can also use explorer rear disc, i did the swap on a early bronco a few years ago,i used the kit from B C BRONCO it was nice, i am going to use it on my bump in a few weeks. i think the kit was less than $400. it used caddy calipers w/ parking brake jeep rotor. try B C BRONCOS.COM under brake system

If you are doing this on your F100, the use the Exploder conversion.... that way you will have a useful emergency brake. Check the Early Bronco Forums (classicbroncos comes to mind).

No, none of the Lincoln disks have the same bolt pattern, but they did come on 9", so it is a reasonable swap... just have to re-drill the rotors.

On the D60, I haven't found a kit with a GOOD (read effective, simple and low maintenance) E-Brake. The Caddy/GM calipers with e-brake always seem to have issues over the long run.

the problem with explorer brakes is that they are to small to work with the truck bolt pattern, trying to find something that uses the 5x5.5 bp is the hard part, this company uses the cadillac calipers that have e-brakes built in along with redriled gm rotors ,theses are what ill be using,i was able to get the calipers at work fairly cheep so ill be into the whole set up for under 400.00

Uhh.... That is not completely correct Green70.

The Early Bronco is a 5x5.5 and people use them all the time... Check on the bronco forums I mentioned.

Many of the folks using them have converted from the GM stuff because of the ebrake situation.

If you don't use an e-brake, then it doesn't really matter.

You can also try TSMMFG.com. They use a Ford rotor (I think a 4wd type slip on rotor) instead of redrilling GM ones. This allows you to pick up rotors anywhere. They use Cadillac rear calipers, which will hook up to your stock parking brake linkage.

I plan on using their kit for my 72. And adding a power brake booster. It should stop on a dime and give 9 cents change!

Nick,
Is tired of working on drum brakes!
