re: general mantinance
I'm scanning some of the pertinent pages of the 1968 Maintenance and Lubrication manual right now. I should have these posted later this evening or early tomorrow. I'll post a link when it's ready.

OK, it's posted. I've scanned some selections of the 1968 Ford Truck Maintenance & Lubrication Manual and posted them.

For future reference, this page is linked to from the Factory Literature Index.
I hope this helps.

You'll need a grease gun with the appropriate grease cartridges to attach to the zerks at the kingpins (one on top, one on bottom of each), as well as every other place specified on that page linked to above on the steering linkage.
In response to your identical post in the Drivetrain forum: Your F100 will have a Ford 9" rearend. There is a fill plug about halfway up the front of the pumpkin. Just remove the fill plug, get a quart of 90W and squirt it in the hole until it starts to run out, then replace the plug. (You might find using a funnel with a flexible spout will make it easier.)
Since it seems apparent that you've never really done maintenance on a vehicle before, you might want to print out the tables listed at the link above and then enlist the help of a mechanically-inclined buddy to come over some afternoon and point out where all these items needing attention are, and how to service them. He can point out where everything is, just so you have the visual. These trucks are definitely not as easy to care for as newer cars....very regular maintenance is required. If you let anything slide for a while, it's only going to start a cascade affect which will become apparent in other systems and could make the truck unreliable (or unsafe) to drive. Then you can always refer back here if you have additional questions. Good luck!
