what kind of tires??
for a 2wd that more then likely wont see any off road can i get away with running street (car) tires or is it advisable to run a LT tire. not really sure on my plans for this truck yet it's either restore and look pretty or bring it into the new age and make it more sporty.
also whats the biggest rim fitment problem? backspacing, width, diameter. doubtfull ill go over 16's but. but say i wanted to run a nice wide mid profile tire like a 245/50/15? probly too wide ehh?

Interesting....gonna try 235/75/60 on the front, 275/60/15 on the rear. Screwed, er creatively acquired a set of the '80s van turbine wheels frome a buddy of mine (15x8 front, 15x10 rear) to hang on the short bed, I'll keep ya posted

As a metter of fact, i AM trying to keep up with the Jones'

re: what kind of tires??
As far as running passenger car radials on your truck, yes, you can. I thought about tire sizes for a long time before I finally settled on mine. I have 15x8's in back and 15x7' in front and all four have 4" backspacing. My tires are 275/60 and 245/60. I would have liked to go to a 16" wheel/tire but the prices jump up considerably even for bare steel wheels. Besides, the 15's and 60 series tires fit my old school look better. The 275/60-15's have about a 11.25" section width. I plan on swapping a dentside 9" axle in place of the Dana 60. The 9" is about 4" longer (2" each side) and will put my tires out to just inside my wheel well lip. Right now, they are about a 1/4" from the inside lip. I also think they'll look even better when I drop the truck 3-4" at all 4 corners.
BTW, take a look at tirerack.com. After you pick a tire by size, you can click on the "specs" and see the diameter, section width, recommended rim width range, optimum rim width, etc.

What's up ezernut? Hey, what happened to the Lightning wheels? The chromies look great. Are they Wheel Vintiques? I still love that yellow with the white grille and bumpers a LOT!

re: what kind of tires??
I have 15x10 wheels with 295/60 street tires on my 68. I have a 13" wide contact patch. Not sure on backspacing, but they don't rub anywhere.

Armstrong steering. Driving isn't bad. Parking lots take a little planning.
