The Ranger XLT @ Holley Ford Fest 2024 in Bowling Green KY After Missing HRPT 2019 and Power Tour 2021

Post by DuckRyder »

I posted this on the POR15 tread, but since its kind of buried I thought I would start a "Project tread"

A little more progress today:

Of the 4 sets of valve covers that I have, these are the only ones that clear the rocker studs. Hopefully they won't hit the brake booster.

The carb and valve covers are not permanently installed yet. I still have to adjust the valves and do some other house keeping on getting a couple of bolts swapped for the correct size.

Hopefully not too much longer.

Little more Progress Today.

Plan is to fire it off by Sunday, I have quite a bit of little stuff yet to come like the stainless heater fittings, and 70 CJ PCV stuff.

As long as Dennis at DSC comes through with the Crank spacer we should be on goal.

The firewall and inner fenders turned out nice. The core support will look fine once installed.

The painter made about two days extra work for me by failing to remove the steering columb so I had to pull it, strip it and paint it. BTW, "Medium Blue Poly" interior paint can only be mixed in Lacquer, at 40 pucks a pint!

It'll probably turn out fine because I didn't have a dust free spray area so I'll have to polish it.

I spent the beginning of the week remounting most of the hardware with a Stainless Kit.

I am ready to be at a stopping point!!!

It Runs, It RUNs, It freaking RUNS

:D :D :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

It is idling at 1100 right now so I have to pull the carb and decrease the secondary gap, but I can already tell the cam is going to have a wicked idle. I can head it at 1100, 950 should nasty
