New mustang Legend lime = old lime gold?

Post by coletrain777 »

hey,
I was wondering if it is true that the new legend lime on the mustangs is the same exact paint as the lime gold that ford offered in the late 60's early 70's? I saw a post on here that stated that was true, but is anyone 100% positive. My 71 has a lime gold paint code, and I would love to be able to go into my local paint store and order legend lime paint for its new paint job. Just wanted to know if anyone knew if it was the same or not? Thanks

well, I couldn't take it anymore! I went and mixed up a gallon of the legend lime (paint code P1, off of like a 2006 mustang) and the legend lime is a 100% dead on match for the old lime gold (my 71 paint code is S). So if you are looking to get a color match in an aerosol can or by the gallon (yeah new paint will be here shortly) you are looking for paint code P1. Just thought you guys would like to know.

 You're not very patient, are you?

Cool...thanks for sharing that! That sounds like a good snippet for the Did You Know box. I'll have to add that one.

Keith,
No, patience isn't my greatest virtue! Yeah, I was really excited to find out that they are the exact same color. I had read a few things on the internet that had stated they were, but now I know for sure. Sure is a neat looking color on an old bumpside.

Well to get techinal about it it's not the same/ Back then they used lead and other chemicals that is not used to day. It may match but the chemical make up is differnt. When they took lead and the other stuff out of paint they replaced it pigment and dye's. Just thought i had to chime in on this kinda like being a smart @ss lol

Awesome! Nice discovery...

So when are they bringing back "Frost Turquoise"?! That would look nice on these new 'stangs... :)
