Post by layedout72 »

Anybody have pics of the lower bolt on the fender that somehow mounts it to under the cab or whatever? I can't figure out how they went, and it doesnt look like theres a hole anywhere?

You have to get at it through the opening in the door where the lower hinge is located.

oh are you talking about the bolt that is really hard to get in because you have to work through that little opening right by the button that turns on the dome light when the door is open? the bold is really hard to tighten. i just didnt even put them in all the way.

thanks for the pics, looks like mine are broken. I have the bolt and clip........with nothing for the clip to go onto. Wonder how I am going to fix that. maybe I can get that bolt and bracket off, weld a little piece of steel on there and put it back together.

yea that what i would do is to make a new bracket onto the bottom of the cab drill a new holes and put a new bolt and clip back on it. as far as that long winded bolt in the door nige area i was thinking of drilling a hole thought the kick plate so i could get at it better. and then use a plastic rubber type of body plug to cover the hole i drilled. does that sound like a good plan?

sounds good. i would do it myself but that bolt isnt vvery necessary. i took off the door button for the dome light so i could get my hand in there but it was still extremely hard especially because that u nut was moving with the bolt! so i just didnt tighten them down. i tried shaking the fender by where the bolt would go and it was stiff in place. i had some casualties when i was trying to tighten that bolt down with a ratchet - a few bolts and one or two sockets fell down and i could not get them. :x
if you do drill the whole i would like to see some pictures. so if i ever did it i could get some idea.

i was going to find a plug to fit any hole i drilled first that way i could easily drill the hole to the plug size. i just want it big enough for the socket to go through.

That's a good idea, I may do that this afternoon as they REALLY need to be bolted down. I loops some zip ties in the bottom because I plan on getting new fenders. Don't want to weld that up and it not be where it should with the new sheet metal. It's probably a 5/8 hole, since the socket is 1/2 inch. might even need to be 3/4 hole.....
